Summer Graduates

Summer graduated from North Sanpete High on May 22. We sat up near the top of the bleachers where there was virtually no air flow as we watched the ceremony. Luckily the proceedings were pretty short so nobody went away with heat stroke

Summer will start school at SUU in Cedar City this August (where she has scholarships that will cover everything but her housing). She's planning to go into English/Drama teaching at a high school level. We're all very proud of her and hope her grand plans don't wear her out too much :P

Elanie Cosette turns 3

Ella had her third birthday on May 9. There were a lot of friends and family there, and Ella was thrilled to be the center of everyone's attention. She planned her own party and picked out most of the supplies, complete with the "congratulations graduate" balloons that decorated the pavilion. Of course it was a princess party, and all of the little girls had to have tiaras and magic wands.

Talk about getting spoiled! This photo doesn't even show all of the presents she got. All the little girls there thought they had won the lottery and there was a bit of cat fighting when Ella realized they wanted to take turns with her new things as well.

Here's some of the family resting after the morning rush to get ready for the party.

Ella poses with her dad, grandpa and of course a princess party favor.

Leo mostly kept to himself during the party, but when Ella opened her pack of miniature Disney Princess dolls he decided to fight her for them. The poor kid couldn't figure out why Ella was getting all of the toys, but he was pretty patient with everything going on anyway.

John graduates

Disclaimer: as you can probably tell at this point, I went to upload pictures from the camera tonight and realized how behind I've gotten with the blog.

On April 24, Tom's brother John graduated from BYU with his computer science degree. We really enjoyed spending time with the family while they were in town and are looking forward to spending more time with them in the near future as we get up to Washington. Congrats John!

Let's get sad...

Okay, this post is really long in coming. Way back on April 4th Tom, John and I went to a Damien Jurado concert in Provo. The venue was small with great ambience, complete with weird modern art (flying babies and all). I must confess that this was the first concert I had ever been to, and I really enjoyed it.

In the middle of the concert after one of Damien's rare upbeat songs, he was talking to the audience animatedly (okay, as animated as he ever gets) and then suddenly said "Okay, now let's get sad" as he tried to get back into his typically dour frame of mind.

This was a song he wrote just a few hours before the concert, and we were actually standing right by the person who took this video.

Floatin' Babies

While performing his song "Letters and Drawings", he got distracted by the lights and blanked out and sang about the aforementioned "floating babies." Listen through to the end of the song to catch that part.
